2024 Council Election Information

The timeline, call for nominations, candidate information, and directions for the election procedure for the 2024 WGAE Council Election are detailed below. If you have questions, please refer to the Elections FAQ.

The 2024 Annual Meeting and Council Election will be held at 4:30 PM ET on Thursday, September 19, 2024.

The 2024 election will be conducted according to approved amendments to the WGAE Constitution, which provide that Guild members nominate and vote only for Council & Vice President seats allotted to their work sector.

The 2024 election includes the following seats:

  • Online Media Vice President
  • Broadcast/Cable/Streaming News Vice President
  • Six (6) Film/TV/Streaming seats
  • Two (2) Online Media seats
  • Three (3) Broadcast/Cable/Streaming News seats

Voting online and by mail begins at 12:00 AM ET on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. The voting period for the 2024 Council Election closes at 4:30 PM ET on Thursday, September 19, 2024.


Voting Information

Online voting for Council members began at 12 AM ET on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, and will end at 5 PM ET on Thursday, September 19, 2024. Any current member in good standing is eligible to vote in the election.

To vote online, please visit https://eballotuv.votenet.com/wgaeast (external – opens in a new window) and follow these steps:

  1. Enter your 5-digit WGAE Member ID and the Activation Code you received by mail and email. (Need help with your Activation Code? See below.)
  2. After entering your activation code and pressing enter, you will be asked to create your password. (This step ensures the confidentiality of your vote.)
  3. Log in with your username and newly created password.

This three-step process keeps your vote secret. After you have voted, you may print a confirmation page, which will include the date and time of your online vote.

If you want to vote in person, you may do so on Thursday, September 19, at 4:30 PM ET at the Guild office. (RSVP is required for security purposes – please email elections@wgaeast.org.) If you prefer to vote by mail, please email elections@wgaeast.org, no later than Tuesday, September 10, to request your paper ballot (instructions will be included).

E-Ballot Troubleshooting

I don’t know my 5-digit WGAE member ID

Your WGAE ID was included on the voting instructions notice which was emailed to you from noreply@eballot.com and mailed to your designated Elections address.

If you cannot find the voting instructions notice, your WGAE membership number can be retrieved from your Guild membership card, on the main dashboard of your online member account, or by contacting elections@wgaeast.org.

I can’t find my Activation Code

Your Activation Code was included on the voting instructions notice which was emailed to you from noreply@eballot.com and mailed to your designated Elections address.

If you cannot find the email or letter with your activation code, please call the eBallot toll free hotline at (866) 984-3125 for assistance.

Call for Nominations

The 2024 nominations period begins on Monday, June 3, 2024. Sector nomination forms and directions for the election procedure will be available to download below during the nomination period.

Any current member who has been in good standing for one year preceding the election is qualified to run in their own work sector. To be entitled to nominate or self-nominate a candidate for work sector Vice President or work sector Council seats, a member must be in good standing and a member of the sector for which they are nominating themselves or another candidate.

The nominations period has ended. The deadline to submit nominations was 11:59pm on June 21, 2024.


2024 Timeline

  •  Monday, June 3, 2024 – Call for Nominations announced; Nomination period begins.
  •  Friday, June 21, 2024 by 11:59pm EDT – Nomination deadline.
  •  Thursday, August 1, 2024 – Candidates announced.
  •  Monday, August 26, 2024 – Candidate Town Hall
  •  Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at 12:00am EDT – Voting online and by mail begins.
  •  Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 4:00pm EDT – In-person voting at the Guild office; RSVP required.
  •  Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 4:30pm EDT – Online voting ends.
  •  Friday, September 20, 2024 – Two-year terms for newly elected Council members begin.
