One Company, One Union: Vox Media Union, Thrillist Union, and The Dodo Union Petition to be Merged Into One Bargaining Unit
NEW YORK, NY (February 1, 2024) – The Writers Guild of America East (WGAE) has filed a Unit Clarification Petition to combine Vox Media Union, Thrillist Union, and The Dodo Union. The petition, filed with the NLRB on January 30th, demands merging the three unions that are all under the Vox Media umbrella.
In a video of testimonials from WGAE members at Vox Media, the unit said “We want one union, one contract because management is always saying we’re one company, and we’d like to be treated that way. We’re all coworkers. When we combine our individual voices to create one collective voice, we have so much more power in advocating for the workplace we all deserve. We can finally close the loop on Vox’s acquisition of [Group Nine Media] – all Vox Media employees deserve the same protections.”
Along with filing the Unit Clarification Petition, 300 WGAE members in the Vox Media Union, Thrillist Union, and The Dodo Union delivered a sign-on letter to Vox management.
Vox Media owns sites including New York Magazine, The Verge, The Cut, Eater, Vulture, The Strategist, Polygon, SB Nation, Intelligencer, Curbed, Grub Street, Thrillist, Popsugar, The Dodo, NowThis, and Seeker.
