Working in the nonfiction video space can feel like the Wild West. We get so used to the grind and hustle that we often forget to question how the industry can be better. From getting proper OT to ensuring worker safety, there are numerous ways documentary filmmakers and video journalists can work together to make the industry a better place.
This event features organizers working to enact industry-wide change, including our very own Jigsaw Organizing Committee members Lanishia Washington and Jade Lewis, WGAE Lead Strategic Organizer Andy Greenberg, IDA Bargaining Committee member Hansen Bursic, and the WGAE Nonfiction Women of Color Caucus co-chair, Lamonia Brown. The event will be moderated by Rebecca Davis, an Emmy Award-winning video journalist based in New York. Rebecca helped launch the digital documentary unit at NBC News, where her work focused on social movements, environmental and economic justice, and community innovators.
