Wednesday April 30, 2025The Writers Guild of America East invites members to attend events happening in Los Angeles and online this month.
The calendar below includes information on screenings, panels and committee meetings taking place in October.
RSVPs are not required for screenings at the Writers Guild Theater. You only need your Guild membership card to attend all screenings. All screenings take place at the Writers Guild Theater (135 S. Doheny Dr., Beverly Hills) and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Unless otherwise specified, you can bring up to TWO guests to screenings. You can find the latest list of upcoming Los Angeles screenings via the WGAW website. (external – opens in a new window)

WGAW’s Genre Committee was formed with the purpose of attracting writers interested in a certain genre, to meet, discuss and exchange information in a peer-to-peer setting. Our mission is to push education, diversity and camaraderie amongst all writers no matter their background. The Committee welcomes all writers because writers work in all genres. Members welcome to attend this meeting in-person or via Zoom. A Happier Ending: Writing the Climate Future We Want for Film and TV

The WGAW is hosting a lively discussion on ways in which climate and sustainability can reflect real-life, ongoing efforts with a hopeful look at what’s possible. Please join our panel: writer/producer Kira Snyder (For All Mankind, Handmaid’s Tale), Dr. Joe Árvai (Professor of Psychology and Director of the USC Wrigley Institute for Environment and Sustainability), and Catherine Baltazar (Senior Policy Analyst & Organizer at Climate Resolve). WGF x Business of Creating – Press Start: Building a Career in Video Game Writing & Narrative Design

Join the WGF in partnership with The Business of Creating Institute for an interactive panel on designing and writing video games and building a career in the interactive entertainment industry. Topics will include an overview of positions on a video game project, narrative design, writing your own material vs. writing for an established franchise, getting hired, and more. Panelists include Stephan Bugaj (Chief Creative Officer at Genvid), Andrew McClain (Senior Games Writer/Narrative Designer, Neo Cab, Goodbye Volcano High), Ashley Poprik (Senior Narrative Designer, Destiny 2; Writer, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6), and Justin Sloan (Senior Games Writer, Battlefield, Tales From The Borderlands). Moderated by Jennifer Mangan (Writer/Producer, Beautiful Day Productions and Co-Founder of The Business of Creating Institute). Inside the Writers Room with Ghosts

RSVP Get an exclusive look Inside the Writers Room with Ghosts, an iteration of our ongoing event series where we gather the writers room of a TV series to learn how their room runs. Learn how the writers approach character development, how they pitch jokes in the room, and their process for crafting funny storylines for their fourth season. Panelists include Co-Showrunners and Executive Producers Joe Port & Joe Wiseman and Co-Executive Producers Talia Bernstein, Akilah Green, Sophia Lear, and Josh Malmuth. Take advantage of early bird ticket pricing through Monday, March 31st. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $5 for WGA members, students, and military active duty/veterans. Prices will increase to $20 for GA and $10 for WGA/students/military on Tuesday, April 1. Jewish Writers Committee Meeting

The Jewish Writers Committee represents the professional, creative, and social interests of Jewish writers of all backgrounds and levels of observance and offers a sense of community. It educates and advocates with the goal of encouraging the accurate depiction of Jewish characters and Jewish history in the media. It promotes Jewish inclusion on and off the screen, working to prevent discrimination in the hiring process. Established in 2024.
