I work for CBS News, where the big concern is the impending sale or merger of parent company Paramount Global.
Then I think back on the fact that since starting at CBS decades ago, the company of William Paley was acquired by Westinghouse and then Viacom.
Owners change. CEOs come and go. But in all that time, the one constant in my career was the WGA. It looked after me. It got me into the union health and pension plans. It made sure I never felt alone when things got tough.
That’s why I believe in unions. It’s a cliché that we are stronger together. But just because it’s a cliché makes it no less true nor any less powerful.
As CBS gears up for its 2025 contract talks, I intend to push for
- Pay raises that exceed the rate of inflation
- Adequate and appropriate staffing levels
- Job security for staff and freelancers
- Greater options for remote work
- Safe working environments
- Commitment to DEI issues
Over the past 2 decades I’ve served the Guild in numerous ways, in elected positions and on committees.
With your support, I’ll do it again.
