2022 WGAE Council Elections Results

NEW YORK, NY (September 15, 2022) – The Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE) today announced the results of its 2022 Council election.

This is the first election to be conducted since members overwhelmingly voted to change the Guild’s constitution this past June. The new Constitution created three work sectors with their own Vice President and Council members to serve on Council as voted on by members of that sector.

The Council now consists of 20 Council members: twelve (12) Film/TV/Streaming Council members, five (5) Online Media Council members and three (3) Broadcast/Cable/Streaming News Council members, plus five (5) officers: President, Secretary-Treasurer, and three (3) Vice Presidents, one from each work sector.

Film/TV/Streaming members work in screen, television and new media; Online Media members work in digital news shops; Broadcast/Cable/Streaming News members work in traditional broadcast and cable news shops and newer streaming shops, all in positions under the Guild’s jurisdiction.

Sara David has been elected Vice President of the Online Media sector. Kathy McGee has been elected Vice President of the Broadcast/Cable/Streaming News sector.

Monica Lee Bellais (i), Kaitlin Fontana (i), Gina Gionfriddo (i), Tian Jun Gu (i), A.M. Homes (i), and Erica Saleh (i) were elected to serve on the Council representing Film/TV/Streaming members.

Susan Rinkunas and Jessica Schulberg were elected to serve on the Council representing Online Media members.

Justin Raffael DiLauro, Elizabeth Godvik and Gail Lee (i) were elected to serve on the Council representing Broadcast/Cable/Streaming News members.

Finishing their two year terms are Michael Winship as President of the Writers Guild of America, East, Christopher Kyle as Secretary-Treasurer, and Lisa Takeuchi Cullen as Vice President now representing the Film/TV/Streaming sector.

In Film/TV/Streaming, votes were cast by 12.8% of eligible voters (4,128). In Online Media, votes were cast by 10.7% of eligible voters (1,682). In Broadcast/Cable/Streaming News, votes were cast by 14.8% of eligible voters (976). The ballot count was supervised by Votenet Solutions.
